One of a company’s greatest assets is its people. Kice Industries is very fortunate to have gifted, dedicated, and customer-focused employees. We would like you to learn a little bit more about our people of Kice, both professionally and personally.
NEW TO KICE: Sarah Lawson.
Start Date: March 16, 2020
Technical Sales Manager, OK, North TX, Eastern NM
Previous employer and job?
I previously worked for Bliss Industries for 14 yrs, started in Engineering, and before I left I was their Technical Sales Engineer.
What was some of your deciding factors for coming to work at Kice?
Stability, Kice is a well-known company in the air handling business and has been around for many years. Vision, the company is very customer-oriented and I liked the feel of it. They also value people and make you feel like you are wanted as an employee.
What do you enjoy most about your job? Why?
The diversity, you see so many interesting processes. I feel like I am on an episode of how it is made every time I go out and see a customer. Whether it is a pet food plant, flour mill, lumber facility, or salt mine, it is very cool to see that we are needed. Or to see how I play our part in adding these products to the world around us.
Can you share some things that set the company apart from other companies (what are the favorite things working at Kice?)
Knowledge base, I love that there is a wealth of resources to access, that there are folks I can call to help me walk through things I find in the field and to help me answer the customers questions. Also, the flexibility, we have excelled at being flexible during this pandemic. While the rest of the world has come to a screeching halt in some cases, we have adapted and are still trucking along.
What are three words to describe Kice?
Knowledgeable, stable, welcoming
Personal Side of Sarah
What is the one thing you cannot resist?
Food, haha I am a fat kid lol. And I love listening to music, so good tunes.
A typical weekend for me is…
I usually try to get all my chores done on Saturday and any projects are done early in the day, so I can spend the rest of the time doing something fun with my boys. Sundays are usually spent helping in the nursery or kitchen first service at Church and attending 2nd. Then after church, there is a group of us that rotate Sunday lunches at a group at each other’s homes. Then the rest of the day is spent doing things around the house. Nothing crazy these days, pretty low key.
What living celebrity would you most like to hang out with for a night?
Mathew McConaughey, he seems like a genuine individual, I like hearing his speeches, and would be interesting to talk to.
People would be surprised if they knew:
I am a bowler and have competed regularly at Nationals every year for the past 15 years.
Three things you enjoy:
Spending time with my boys, trying new restaurants or food, seeing new places/traveling.
Three things you don’t:
Winter weather chores, the stupid pandemic/being quarantined, ZOOM Kindergarten.
What was the last TV show you binge-watched?
Yellowstone or Bones.
What did you want to be when growing up?
Marine Biologist, I was obsessed with sharks for some reason.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Amazon and Google stocks lol. Actually, you are stronger than you think and don’t be so hard on yourself at times, there is a reason for everything and you will get through it all.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
Verbal pauses, I have a hard time following a conversation if you have the tendency to use certain words over and over in conversation when they are not needed.
